Arkansas 1st Infantry Battalion



HISTORICAL NOTES:
The 1st Battalion, Arkansas Infantry was organized at Cassville and Springfield, Missouri, June to August, 1862, and mustered in at Springfield, Missouri, August 7, 1862. Virtually nothing is known of this unit. It is sometimes confused with / referred to as the 2nd Arkansas Battalion and the 8th Arkansas Battalion, but the three appear to be distinct units. This unit was part of the skirmish near Van Buren April 2, 1865. The regiment mustered out August 20, 1865.
