Connell, John Enoch (26 AUG 1836 - 15 JUL 1900)
John Enoch Connell was born 26 Aug 1836 in a section of Lowndes, now Berrien Co., GA, and died 15 July 1900. He was the son of Samuel Connell and Mary Keen and married Eliza Jane McCranie on 15 Dec 1864 in Berrien County, GA. Eliza Jane was born 1 May 1839 in Lowndes Co., GA, and died 29 Jan 1933. They are both buried in marked graves in Crossroads Church Cemetery in Cook County, GA. Eliza Jane was the daughter of Daniel McCranie and Winnie Lindsey. Daniel McCranie had the nickname "Bay Skunk" given to him for reasons unknown.
John Enoch Connell joined 04 MAR 1862 and served in Co. I, 50th GA Regt. He was appointed Commissary Sergeant. He lost his left arm from a wound sustained at Gettysburg on July 2, 1863. He is buried in the Crossroads Cemetery; Cook Co., GA.
