Crosby, Henry Washington (1834 - 8 APR 1886)
Henry and Emaline Smithwick, of Madison County, Florida, were married in Brooks County, Georgia, in 1859. To this union were born 11 children. Henry owned a 59.5 acre farm, being a part of Lots 168 & 169 in the 12th Land District of Brooks County, and he lived there until he died at home on 08 Apr 1886.
While a resident of Brooks County, he enlisted in the Cofederate States Army on 04 Mar 1860 at Quitman, Georgia. He was wounded in the leg at Cedar Creek, Virginia and was captured at Strausburg, Virginia on 19 Oct 1864. From there he was sent to Harper's Ferry, West Virginia. On 23 Oct 1864, he was sent to Point Lookout, Maryland. He was exchanged 17 Mar 1865. He mustered with the Brooks County Sons (Brooks Volunteers). The 50th Infantry Regiment - Co. K
Pension records show he was at home on wounded furlough at the close of the war (Official records on file with UDC Reference Dept., Richmond, VA). Emaline Crosby was granted a widow's pension in 1902.
