Kinser, Joseph Greenberry

My ancestor was Joseph Greenberry Kinser and he was in Co. B. Fains Regt. of Georgia Infantry. He was from Fannin Co., Georgia. He was later in Co. B of 65th Rgt. of Infantry in 1863. He enlisted in Morganton, Ga. He was paroled at Greensboro, NC in 1865. He was wounded at a battle at some Church between Atlanta and Chattanooga. My Mother remembers him dressing his "minnie ball" wound to the ankle every day as it never healed. I have his records from Ga.

In trying to place Joseph Greenberry Kinser, I find the following Col. Fain as the only Fain officer and Joseph listed in the Infantry Battalion of Smith's Legion according to Henderson's Rosters, but neither is listed in the archives roster of Smith's Legion.

This information is abstracted from sheets sent from the Ga. Dept. archives. They are hard to read because of they have faded due to the old process from copies made in 1960s. The top of the first one reads: K 65 Ga.

The next one has same upper and it was for May and June 1863 and states he was paid by Capt. Goodman

Then the top changes to K 65 Ga.

Another shows him sick in the hospital Jany and Feb and I can't tell if it is 1962 or 1864. And Nov. and Dec. 1863 a Capt. Prichet or Richer signed the pay card.

In March and April 1864 Capt Anderson signed his card as present.

Then I get a different look.

I have a sheet showing he was in Blackie Hospital in Madison Ga. (Name was J. B. Kinser) Jan, and Feb 1864.
