Historical Notes HISTORICAL NOTES:
The 70th Illinois Infantry was organized at Camp Butler and mustered in July 4, 1862.It was assigned to guard duty at Camp Butler, Illinois, until October then mustered out on October 23, 1862.

The Regiment lost 19 by disease during service.
