Historical Notes:
Ham’s 1st Battalion Mississippi State Cavalry (also known as 16th Battalion State Cavalry and later as Ham's Regiment, Mississippi Cavalry was organized May 18, 1863 at Guntown. It later re-enlisted in early 1864 in the State service and in May transferred to the Confederate States service.
