3rd Battalion, North Carolina Light Artillery

Historical Notes:
The 3rd Battalion, North Carolina Light Artillery was organized near Raleigh, North Carolina, in February, 1862, contained three companies. Most of Batteries B and C were captured at Fort Fisher. Battery A participated in the Battle of Bentonville. It surrendered on April 26, 1865. Officers:

Company C (2nd) (Sutton's Battery), Capt. John M. Sutton

Company D - It is not possible to reconstruct a roster of Company D. Company D disbanded and the men transferred to Company A, then transferred to Company C.

Company E - Mostly from Bertie County - All surviving company muster rolls appear under designation of Company G, 32nd Regiment North Carolina Troops.
